Adult Continence
Comprehensive, private assessment and management for adults experiencing urinary leakage, bladder urgency, or loss of control, tailored to your individual needs and lifestyle.
Urinary incontinence affects over 4million Australians (up to 15% all adults and >30% over 70yrs), yet it remains one of the most underreported health conditions - with many adults managing silently for years before seeking help.
At The Yellow Spot Clinic, we provide a confidential, non-judgmental space where adults can access expert assessment and management of urinary leakage and bladder control problems.
Incontinence is not an inevitable part of ageing. In most cases, it can be significantly improved - and often resolved - with the right diagnosis and treatment approach.
Types of adult urinary incontinence
Adult incontinence can take several forms, and accurate classification is an important first step in guiding treatment:
Stress incontinence — leakage triggered by physical activity, coughing, sneezing, or laughing
Urgency incontinence — leakage associated with a sudden, strong, difficult-to-defer urge to urinate
Mixed incontinence — a combination of stress and urgency components
Overflow incontinence — leakage due to an overfull bladder that cannot empty properly
Functional incontinence — difficulty reaching the toilet in time due to mobility or cognitive factors
Nocturia — frequent waking overnight to pass urine
You don't have to quietly reorganise your life around your bladder. Book an appointment with The Yellow Spot Clinic and let us help you get back to living it fully.
Our assessment process
At your initial consultation, Dr Delaney or Dr Roy will take a comprehensive history, exploring your symptoms, medical background, medications, fluid intake, and bowel habits — all of which can influence bladder function. We may ask you to complete a bladder diary before your visit. Further investigation such as urinalysis, post-void residual measurement, or urodynamic studies may be recommended depending on your presentation.
We take the time to understand your goals. For some patients, the priority is managing symptoms during exercise or social occasions; for others, it is regaining full control. Our management plans are built around what matters most to you.
Treatment options
Treatment for adult incontinence is tailored to the type and severity of symptoms and may include:
Pelvic floor physiotherapy and bladder training programs
Fluid management and dietary advice
Medications to manage bladder overactivity or urgency
Referral for surgical management where appropriate
Ongoing monitoring and plan review
Our goal is to restore quality of life — whether that means being able to exercise freely, sleep through the night, or simply feel confident leaving the house.
